WHAT IS ECO4?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is the main government policy aimed at improving energy efficiency while supporting low-income and vulnerable households. Under this scheme, energy suppliers are required to fund energy efficiency measures, making them free for eligible customers.
launched in Jan 2013, ECO has resulted in the installation of 2.3 million energy efficiency measures in 1.8 million homes, reducing energy bills, enhancing energy efficiency, and contributing to a better more energy efficient system.
The current phase, ECO3, will run until March 2026. The scheme is fully funded by the Government's Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), meaning eligible households can receive these energy efficiency improvements at no cost.
